To meet this objective the board has established the BIS Global Learning Initiative. This initiative comprises of study abroad, work abroad, international virtual teams, international field trips and guest presentations by international speaker. See below for further details and read accounts of our students experiences of the Global Learning Initiative.
Study Abroad
The Study Abroad programme is part of the BIS Global Learning Initiative. Our study abroad programme was established in 2007 and is now an integral part of the BIS degree. Our initial partner was the
University of Maryland, Baltimore County . The IS department at UMBC are highly regarded
internationally and there is a strong fit between the academic
offerings at NUI Galway and UMBC. the The study abroad progamme which occurs in Semester II of second year is open to students who have a 55% (or higher) grade average from first year. Following the success of the pilot phase the programme board have now added two further partners, Clarkson University, NY and American University, DC and are in negotiation with two further American Universities. Our goal is to provide a place for any student who qualifies for the study abroad programme.
